Principal’s Message

Welcome to Lake Cowichan School

Principal & Vice Principal’s Message

Welcome to Lake Cowichan School – a place to learn, form friendships, and have fun. Staff and students at Lake Cowichan School work, learn, and play each day on the unceded territory of the Ts’uubaa-asatx Nation. Our amazing staff works hard to provide challenging academic programs, extensive opportunities for students in the arts, tech and community service, and to continue a strong commitment to excellence. We strive to honour the traditions of the past all the while creating innovations for the future. We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities and we will do everything we can to help students be successful.

Together students are learning, discovering, taking risks and developing life-long friendships in an environment that is safe, caring, supportive and responsive. To help with this, the school encourages parents and guardians to be supportive of the school’s policies and encourages parental involvement as needed and as appropriate.

If you want to stay up to date on all things happening at Lake Cowichan School, be sure to check out our Facebook page, LCSS (Official Lake Cowichan Secondary Official School Page), or our Instagram page, lakecowichan_lakers.

Students in Grades 4-7 are enrolled in our elementary school program, housed on the second floor of the main building.  Elementary school students have a closed campus, learn and develop social responsibility within their advisory groupings, and sample secondary electives through an exploratory cycle.

Students in Grades 8-12 are enrolled in our secondary school program, housed on the first floor of the main building. Secondary students have an open campus, and select their courses from a broad program list augmented by a variety of distributed learning options, as well as practical and fine arts programs.
